The question

Yesterday Cooper and I were talking about little babies and he innocently asked, "Mommy, how do babies get inside tummys?" As I started fumbling for words, Sophie came in and took Cooper's attention. Cooper forgot all about it. Ahhhh...I am not ready for my boy to grow up. How do you tell a 4 year old about that stuff? Mm kay.

I was lucky and Addy was older when we were expecting Natalie so we just showed her a book of what a baby looks like inside and she never really asked how. Until I had the "fun" talk with her this year, she still didnt get the full talk but knows enough for now. Maybe you could just say Daddy then if he asked further tell him he will have to wait till he is older. Or just have Sophie distract him again!

I would just keep it super simple and revert the question back to him, "Cooper, how do you think babies get into tummies?" By doing this you see what their response is and you don't have to give them more detail than they need, want or are really asking for. Hope that makes sense...just my opinion:)

I love this ad!

So we just had a whole enrichment about this subject and how to talk to your kids about it.

I will have to email you all the tips!

Wow! Crazy how fast he has grown! Good advice given so far. I am sure you will do a great job at knowing how to handle it.

The truth in very small, easy to understand increments. Don't lie. He is growing up and he definitely is interested in the opposite sex---I hope you make it with him. That is why he needs the truth!!
